Recollect the multiple occasions when you cursed people for illegal parking? Well, Nitin Gadkari has a solution which would be a win-win situation for everyone involved. The Transport Minister has announced that citizens who click images of illegally parked cars and send it to the authorities will receive a reward.

Gadkari said that once the photo is sent to the traffic police or the concerned department, the person who sent the image will receive 10% of the fine (which is INR 500), resulting in INR 50 for each image of an illegally parked vehicle. The Transport Minister said he felt ashamed that the absence of parking spaces outside his own ministry forced cars to park on the road, thus blocking the way to the parliament.

Gadkari said that in his Motor Vehicle Act (MVA), he is going to add one new law. Under the provision, any car on the road, citizens will just have to take the photo on their mobile and send it to the department concerned or to the police. There will be an INR 500 fine and 10 per cent will go to the complainant.

The Transport Minister further added that there are no parking spaces available. People are using roads for that. Every day it is shameful for him at the ambassador’s are coming, the big people are coming. In front of Parliament, the total road is blocked and for getting permission to build a parking place he needed 13 permissions.
