Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India continues its upward spiral after the split from Hero. The company has registered impressive growth in the month of October, backed primarily by its Dream Yuga entry level motorcycle. While the overall growth, as compared with last October’s sales stood at 41%, the company registered a tremendous 70% growth in the motorcycle segment, thanks to the Splendor challenger it launched a few months back. In the scooter segment too, the company showed a healthy growth of 21%

Honda sold a total of more than 2.5 lakh units this October, with 1.22 lakh motorcycles and a little more than 1.28 lakh scooters. Seems like the company would soon be selling more motorcycles than scooters. The overall market share of the company is projected at about 18% in an official company statement in October 2012. In the month of October, during the Navratri-dussehra period, the company witnessed an exceptional 91% jump in sales.

Commenting on the excellent growth pattern Mr.Yadvinder S Guleria, Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India said: ” Continuing strong as the Fastest growing 2Wheeler Company of India, Honda has yet again created 2 new records in October 2012. Firstly, HMSI has achieved its ‘Highest Ever Retails’ of 2.55 lac units and witnessed a healthy 38% YoY growth in dispatches in the month. Secondly, backed by the success of its new model Dream Yuga, Honda’s sales in the 9 day auspicious Navratri-Dushera period has grown at an overwhelming 91% (compared to Navratri-Dushera period of FY’11-12).

Customer demand for Honda products has been highly unprecedented. Despite the recent capacity expansion, Honda reached its combined peak production capacity in October’12 and market demand for Honda 2Wheelers still far outweighs the supply.”
