Honda Motorcycles and Scooters expands production to meet demand

The high waiting for Activa gearless scooter from Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI) is quite (in)famous and so is the similar waiting period to ride home other products from the popular two wheeler manufacturer. Now, Honda held a line-off ceremony today with the commencement of second phase of production operations at its second two-wheeler production plant in Tapukara Industrial Area, Rajasthan. 

HMSI has made an investment of more than Rs. 1000 crore at this plant. As a result, the annual production capacity of this plant has doubled to 1.2 million units.
On the occasion, Mr.NK Rattan, Vice President, Sales and Marketing, said “The plant initially started the operations on July 11, 2011 with initial annual production capacity of 0.6 million units. Further to meet growing demand of customer, 2nd phase with 0.6 million units capacity is started today making the total capacity to 1.2 million. With this, we shall be able to service our customers of Activa and CB Shine in more speedily manner”. 

In order to further quicken the manufacturing and delivering of the products, Honda’s third plant near Bangalore is scheduled to become operational in the first half of 2013, with annual production capacity of 1.2 million units. 

If this move cannot bring down the waiting period for Honda products, we do not know what can.
