Honda Amaze to soon become dearer by INR 8000

Added in: Honda

There is no denying that the Amaze has to be the best thing to have happened to Honda Cars India in recent times. The car has not just marked the entry of the carmaker in the highly competitive compact sedan segment but has also become the first diesel car to be ever sold by the Indian subsidiary of the Japanese car maker.

Honda Cars India has now increased the prices of Amaze, along with all their cars. With this, the Amaze becomes dearer by INR 3,000-8,000 (subjected to the variant). The increase in price gets into effect from June 1.

Powering the Honda Amaze in India is a set of two engines- a 1.2 litre petrol and a 1.5 litre diesel. While this is the same petrol engine that powers the Brio hatchback, the 1.5 litre iDTEC diesel engine that powers the diesel variant is a new motor that has been derived from the much publicized 1.6 litre EarthDreams iDTEC engine that powers the Civic and the CRV in Europe.

In India, the diesel engine that powers the Amaze has class leading power and fuel efficiency figures. With 100PS of power, the Amaze D is not just more powerful than the Dzire’s diesel variant but is also more powerful than many cars from a segment above (read: SX4, Linea).

It will be interesting to see if a marginal price rise would have any effect on the popularity of the newly launched Honda Amaze compact sedan.
