Honda CR-V is one of the most important products for the Japanese manufacturer as it is the top selling compact SUV in the world. Honda introduced last update for the CR-V in 2011 as MY2012. But now, the Honda CR-V is up for a makeover for the 2016MY. A prototype wearing extensive camouflage was spotted by spy photographers of World Car Fans being tested on US roads.
The facelift CR-V will come get a slew of changes in the front fascia. Updates will include revised headlights, grille and a redesigned bumper. The rear end is also expected to be tweaked. But rest of the vehicle (including the interior) is not expected to witness any major change. Honda may also install a camera linked to the infotainment to provide blind sport visibility. The “Lane Watch” system automatically comes on when the driver puts the turn indicator on.
The powermill is also expected to remain the same and the US model will continue to don a 2.4-liter, 4-cylinder i-VTEC engine capable of churning out 185 bhp (138 kW) and 163 lb-ft (221 Nm). The Euro variant of CR-V, however, will have three engine options. The Euro variant of CR-V will be powered by a 1.6-liter i-DTEC engine which produces 118 bhp (88 kW) and 221 lb-ft (300 Nm). There’s also a 2.2-liter i-DTEC that churns out 148 bhp (110 kW) and 258 lb-ft (349 Nm) and a 2.0-liter i-VTEC rated at 148 bhp (110 kW) and 142 lb-ft (192 Nm). Customers will be able to opt for a front-wheel drive layout or an AWD system depending on their choice of engine.
