Aprilia will soon launch the 125cc variant of its SR scooter brand in the Indian market. The upcoming scooter isn’t a big secret and a unit of the 125cc product was snapped at the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) facility in Pune.
The recent sightings by AutoCar India suggest that the scooter will soon be available for purchase and has arrived at select dealerships. The report also added that the 125 scooter will be priced at INR 65,309 (ex-showroom) although there is still no official announcement by Aprilia. The 150cc variant carries a price tag of INR 69,146.
The SR125 was seen in silver and blue, which aren’t available on the SR150. But apart from the difference in the colour options, both – the SR125 and the SR150 – feature identical styling. The 125cc variant even features a front disc brake. the SR125 is visually identical to the 150.
But what about that engine? The Aprilia SR 150 draws power from a 154.4cc four-stroke air-cooled carburetor engine that duty on the Vespa 150 SXL and VXL as well. So it is highly likely that the SR125 will use a retuned engine from the Vespa 125. The 125cc, 3 valve engines on the Vespa is tuned to deliver 10.06PS and 10.6Nm respectively.
