In order to promote their new electric vehicle, Ford has roped in five iconic stars of the 90s to combine their powers and bring out their new hero – the Ford Focus Electric. The company has brought the Planeteers from the well known American environmentalist animated series, Captain Planet and the Planeteers, onboard for a television commercial to promote the new EV. The advertising team of Ford has come up with a new ‘OverDubs’ series to creatively promote their Ford Focus.
Being the latest installment of Ford’s Overdubs series, the new video advertising the Ford Focus Electric is not an all new video but happens to be a clip from the animated series that is re-dubbed by voice over artists. Ford has re-constructed the iconic move of the Planeteers to summon Captain Planet, just this time Kwame, Wheeler, Linka, Gi and Ma-Ti use their magical rings to call for Ford Focus EV.
Originally these five hold their rings pointing up and shout out earth, fire, wind, water and heart to call the superhero but in this TVC these folks call out features of the Ford vehicle. Interestingly or rather funnily, Gi has to shout out ‘SYNC 3 enhanced voice recognition-communication-and entertainment system’ in a breath to complete her call.
The Ford Focus being an electric vehicle, is claimed to be eco-friendly. So to represent this green vehicle, these Planeteers are the apt choice!
