Chevrolet will be showcasing the V8 powered Corvette Convertible at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show. Sharing the stall with the mighty Corvette will be the new Spark EV (aka Beat EV) that will make its European debut.

Regulars here would remember that we reported in detail when Chevrolet showcased the U.S. spec Spark EV at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show and the European version of the Spark EV is powered by the same electric motor that powers the U.S. version. This motor has a max power output of 130 hp and a peak torque figure of 542 Nm. The electric motor endows the Spark EV with an acceleration figure of less than eight seconds!

Powering the electric motor is a 20+ kWh lithium-ion battery which can be ‘Fast Charged’ to 80% in less than 20 minutes. A full charge takes almost eight hours using a regular 230V outlet. The Spark EV is expected to have a range of around 160-200kms on a full charge.

On the inside, the Spark EV comes loaded with features like two full color seven-inch LCD screens, a digital instrument cluster, chrome and blue trim inserts, rear view camera and Chevy’s MyLink infotainment system which is compatible with Apple’s Siri.

The Spark EV will battle it out against the Renault Zoe, Citroën C-Zero and the Mitsubishi i-Miev.

Safely expect the car to cost around INR 17 lakhs.
