The Datsun GO+ is the most affordable MPV in the Indian market, priced at Rs 3,83,000 and going all the way up to Rs 5,69,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The car is powered by a 1.2-litre petrol unit which comes paired with a manual gearbox.
The Datsun GO+ looks very similar to the GO. The only difference you may find is the Datsun GO+ is 3995 mm long, 1636 mm wide, 1507 mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2450 mm. The MPV stands 180 mm above the ground and, it has a total kerb weight of 882 Kgs. The Datsun GO+ comes equipped with a honeycomb mesh grille bordered by chrome inserts up front.
Illumination duties are taken care of by a conventionally lit headlamp cluster along with newly introduced vertical LED fog lamps. The side profile now looks more appealing as it now comes with sporty looking dual-tone alloy wheels along with some elegant looking lines and creases which mixes up well with the overall side profile of the car. The picture gets completed with a smart looking rear which comes equipped with tail lamps, a new looking bumper and Datsun badging.
On the inside, the Datsun GO+ offers a roomy cabin. The dual-tone interior with faux carbon fibre inserts looks pleasant. The GO+ can accommodate 5+2 passengers at once, but the third row is only recommended for kids. The centre console now comes with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system which supports Apple Car Play and Android Auto. The boot space offered with the third row folded is 347 litres. Storage spaces in the GO+ include cupholders, bottle holders and a decent-sized glovebox. The car gets an analogue instrument cluster which features a tachometer on the left, a speedometer in the middle along with a mini digital display on the right which provides information regarding fuel, time and distance. The Datsun GO+ is a perfect pick for those who wish to buy a spacious car on a budget.
The all-new Datsun GO+ is much safer than before. The car now comes equipped with safety features like ABS with EBD, brake assist, rear parking sensors, driver and passenger airbags, central locking and an engine immobilizer as standard. On the other hand, the top spec variant comes with features like keyless entry and rear wiper and washer.
The Datsun GO+ is powered by a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder, naturally-aspirated, petrol motor that produces 68 ps at 5000 rpm and 104 Nm at 4000 rpm. The engine comes paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox, although we can expect an AMT in near future. The Datsun Go has an ARAI claimed fuel efficiency of 19.83 km/l.
The 1.2-litre petrol unit is peppy and delivers a decent punch while transferring power the front wheels in a linear manner. Power feels sufficient for the car and the exhaust note delivers a sporty experience once the engine gets past the 2000 rpm mark. The suspension is a bit towards the stiffer side which makes it a better handler and ready for those extra two passengers at the back.
Datsun GO+ price starts from INR 3.83 Lakh to INR 5.69 Lakh.
As I sat by the fire, next to the Ganges in Rishikesh, something made me look up. What bounced off my city stricken, sodium lit vision was the sight of a gazillion stars occupying every inch of the dark infinity above. Something inside said, you don’t always need deep pockets to enjoy the richer experiences in life, also reminded me of a car that was parked in the background, a Datsun GO+, India’s first sub-4 meter, compact MPV. Aimed squarely at luring away buyers from entry level hatchbacks, this new Datsun wants to become a 7-seater bait for the budget constrained car buying sharks in our country.
