Yamaha FZS BS VI

In its BS6 from, the Yamaha FZ FI  is powered by a 149 cc engine with a compression ratio of 9.6:1. The motor delivers 12.4 PS of power @ 7,250 rpm and 13.6 N.m torque @ 5,500 rpm. The new FZ-FI and FZS-FI BS-VI version feature single-channel ABS, paired with rear disc brakes along with a monochrome LCD instrument cluster and a single piece, two-level seat.

Yamaha YZF R15 V3

YZF R15 Version 3.0 BS VI Darknight

The Yamaha YZF R15 is now BS6 compliant but its rev-happy engine and that butter-smooth gearbox remain. The 155 cc, Liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, SOHC, 4-valve engine produces a power output of 18.6 PS at 10,000 rpm and a torque of 14.1 N.m at 8,500rpm. In comparison, the BS4 version of the engine made 19.3 PS power at 10,000 RPM and 14.7 N.M at 8500 RPM.

The oldest bike in this list, it has been on sale in the country since 2001, which is a long time. The motorcycle has been ruling the market in the 150cc bike segment for a long time and continues to do so, although the design has started to show its age. The Bajaj Pulsar 150 draws power from a 149.5cc, 4-Stroke, 2-Valve, Twin Spark, Air Cooled, BSVI Compliant DTS-i FI Engine which makes 14 PS @ 8,000 rpm and 13.4 Nm torque at 6,000 rpm. TVS has launched the new-generation Apache RTR 160 4V, which takes the 150cc – 160cc game to the next level. The bike now gets fresh new design, new body panels, attractive colour schemes and a completely new look and feel. The 159.7cc, single-cylinder oil-cooled FI engine churns out 16.02 PS of maximum power at 8,250 RPM and 14.12 Nm of peak torque at 7,250 RPM. This engine is also mated to a 5-speed super-slick gearbox. The bike now also offers TVS’  GTT tech along with an LED headlight, ‘feather touch’ start, wave bite ignition key and all-new aerodynamic claw mirrors

Suzuki Gixxer 155

Suzuki Gixxer BS6

The Suzuki Gixxer rose to fame in the 150cc segment for its styling and aggressive looks.  Deriving its name from the litre-class GSX1000R’s nickname, this motorcycle is powered by a smooth, BS6 compliant 155cc, four-stroke, single-cylinder fuel-injected, air-cooled SOHC engine with SEP technology. It generates [email protected] 8000 rpm and [email protected] rpm. These figures are down from 14.1 PS at 8,000 rpm and 14 Nm at 6,000 rpm for the bike’s BS4 engine. In its BS6 state of tune, the updated engine promises better fuel economy. The bike continues to be available with ABS, LED illumination for the tail and headlight, 6-spoke alloy wheels and a dual-muffler exhaust system.

Honda Unicorn

Honda Unicorn BSVI

One of the oldest 150cc bike on sale in India, this bike changed the way people looked at commuter motorcycles. Back in the day, this was the first bike to bring mono suspension in the market and the butter smooth engine made it even more joyous to ride. In its BS6 form, the bike now comes with an engine start-stop switch which was long due and single-channel ABS with tubeless tyres. The ground clearance has been increased by 8 mm and has a longer wheelbase too. To increase the overall comfort quotient of the motorcycle, the seat is now 24 mm longer.

The bike now uses a 162.7cc engine which cranks out 12.91 PS at 7,500 rpm and 14 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm. Mated to this is a five-speed gearbox. As of now, this is the only BS6 150cc motorcycle in Honda’s portfolio.

Suzuki Gixxer SF

Suzuki Gixxer SF 155 12

The faired version of the Suzuki Gixxer, the bike also gets a single-channel ABS for extra safety and it gets a disc at both ends. The Gixxer SF makes use of the same engine as it’s streetfighter cousin, which is a 155cc, four-stroke, single-cylinder fuel-injected, air-cooled SOHC engine with SEP technology. It generates [email protected] 8000 rpm and [email protected] rpm. The bike now gets revised styling and an LED front headlamp. The BS6 Gixxer SF now retails at INR 1,21,900 (ex-showroom Delhi) and is available in Metallic Sonic Silver and Glass Sparkle Black. The fully-faired bike’s MotoGP edition is available at INR 1,22,900.
