Luxurious Off-Roader Mercedes-Maybach G-650 Showcased At The Frankfurt Auto Expo

The Mercedes stand at the Frankfurt Auto Expo captured quite some attention. The German brand showcased a range of electric concept cars, updated version of some existing models and the engineering marvel, the Mercedes Project-One. They also displayed the ‘fancy’ version of G-Class, the Mercedes-Maybach G-650.

There are bits of chrome used all over the car’s exterior. The G-650 is fitted with electronically extending side steps, front and rear underride guards and a chrome-covered screen on the radiator grille. It also has 22-inch alloy wheels with the word ‘Landaulet’ engraved in the rim flanges.

In terms of interior, the front half of the car is relatively similar to that of a fully-optioned G-Class. But the story is quite different behind the driver, with the massage seats. These seats recline so that you can stretch your legs and have a sip of your favourite beverage. The roof can be lowered in 20 seconds and can only be operated from the rear seats. There are three colour options available for the fabric-roof.

A 6.0 litre V12 Biturbo developed by the in-house performance division, AMG, produces 621hp and a jaw-dropping 1000Nm of torque. With such power, this thing can go from 0-60mph in under 6 seconds and can achieve a top speed of 150mph. Keeping in mind that this car weighs as much as a small mountain, these figures are seriously mind-blowing. Mercedes is using AMG Speedshift 7G-Tronic automatic transmission to transfer the power to all four wheels.

Mercedes said that they will build a total of 99 units of these absolute beauties. Of that 98 are already asked for and the remaining last one will be auctioned on October 6, 2017.
