Auto Expo 2018: BMW Launches The 6-Series GT Luxury Liftback; Features, Technical Specifications, Prices Inside

The crowds jostled to get to the front of the BMW stand here at the Auto Expo 2018. The reason for the hustle-bustle, however, was less because of the car being unveiled and more because of the man revealing what was in store – Sachin. The car too, came pretty close to matching the charm of the big man himself – and that is no small praise. BMW used the dais to launch a slew of new models and to refresh its existing model range in the country. The one that matters the most, was this – the BMW 6 Series GT.

The 6GT is the latest luxury liftback from the German marque – a body style that adds even more practicality and comfort to the standard saloon version. BMW will hope that the added legroom will allow the company to take on its larger rivals – the hugely successful Mercedes-Benz E-Class and the competent Volvo S90.

The 6-er will be available with a 258 BHP 2.0 Litre four cylinder turbo petrol off the block. BMW has also promised to introduce a 190 BHP 2.0 Litre and a 265 BHP 3.0 Litre six-cylinder oil burner option all paired with an 8-speed automatic later.

The cabin will get an iDrive infotainment system, four-zone climate control, a 1400W Bowers & Wilkins 16-speaker audio setup and mood-lighting. The car will also ride on air suspension all around for added comfort.

The 630i petrol is available for sale off the block with prices starting from INR 58.9 Lakhs (ex-Delhi). The diesel motors will follow in the second half of 2018.
