It has been long since Mercedes has been busy with testing the next generation C Class prototypes in public roads. A look at our database reveals that exactly a year ago, on February 15 2012, we talked about the 2014 Mercedes C Class prototype being spotted on public roads.

A heavily camouflaged prototype of the upcoming 2014 C Class was recently caught undergoing pre-production runs. While the new C is set to be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show, we are surprised by the loads of camouflage on the car.

It is, however, a known fact that the car will have CLS-like design form for the headlights and will be a tad wider than the current C.

The 2014 Mercedes-Benz C-Class is based on the new MRA platform and will weigh less than 1,380 kilograms. The upcoming vehicle is also expected to feature a double wishbone for its front suspension as well as a new rear multi-link design.

Engine options for the car include a four-cylinder diesel, four cylinder petrol and a V6 engine. The engines will be longitudinally-mounted and the power output of the engines ranges from 184hp (137kW) to 330hp (246kW).

The C Class AMG variant is likely to get either a twin-turbo 4.0 or a 5.5-liter V8 engine.
