2014 Kia Soul Unveiled at New York

Korean auto maker Kia has unveiled the new 2014 Kia Soul that is based on the Track’ster concept that was first seen in 2012. The new car has been unveiled at the ongoing 2013 New York Motor Show.

The new Soul rides on a longer and wider chassis and is larger along with having interiors build with better quality materials and with lower NVH levels. The car will go on sale in three variants- Base, Plus and Exclaim.

The new Soul has 0.8 inches longer wheelbase and has 0.6 inches of more overall width. Kia says that the car will come with seven new exterior color options.

On the inside, the interior panels are made up of soft-touch materials and gets leather upholstery. The dashboard gets piano black inserts to further elevate feeling of richness.

The instrument panel of the new car comes fitted with an eight-inch touch screen that is connected to the car’s telematics and infotainment system and UVO eServices2 Android-based application.

The interiors have 0.8 inches of more front leg room, 0.2 inches of more rear leg room, 0.2 inches of more front headroom and 0.3 inches of more front seat shoulder room. The interior of the car has better NVH that has lowered the noise levels by roughly 3 decibels.

Powering the 2014 Kia Soul is a 1.6-liter direct injection all-aluminum DOHC four-cylinder GDI petrol engine with 130 horsepower of max power and 160Nm of peak torque. The transmission options include 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmissions.The Plus and Exclaim variants also get a 2.0-liter engine with 164 horsepower of max power and 204 Nm of peak torque figure.
