We were the first in the country to report that the Kawasaki Ninja 300R has arrived in India and is undergoing tests by Vehicle Research and Development Establishment (VRDE). We also reported when we got an exclusive info that ARAI was conducting braking tests for the bike. Now, what you see here is a set of images of the new bike being ‘tested’ by a Bajaj-Probiking dealers on, of course, Indian roads.

The latest in the Ninja brand of bikes was earlier rumoured to be a replacement for the 250R in many markets. However, the new Ninja 300R and the new Ninja 250R, which are similar in styling, will sell alongside each other.

Many people are of the first impressions that the Ninja 300R is nothing more than a slightly more powerful version of the Ninja 250R. Powering the new Kawasaki Ninja 300R is a 296cc, parallel twin, fuel injected motor that benefits from dual throttle valves.

The new engine has a max power output of 39 [email protected] RPM and a peak torque figure of 27 Nm @10,000 RPM. All this power is transmitted to the rear wheels by a 6-speed gearbox. The Ninja 300R wears 110 section tyre up front and 140 section tyre at the rear. The bike also gets ABS option.

Our sources tell us that Bajaj Autos Ltd, Kawasaki’s Indian partner, intends to launch the 300 towards the end of next month and some probiking dealers have commenced with registering ‘unofficial bookings’ for the new bike. The color options for bike include Green, Red and White.

The sighting of new 300R on Indian roads has set us excited and Indian biking aficionados are surely in for a treat in very near future.

As we have been saying, the 300R will open gates to an all new segment in Indian bike market and is targeted at those who want that wee bit extra from their entry level sportsbike. The new Ninja is expected to command a premium of about INR 50000-60000 over the Ninja 250R.
