The festive season has helped automobile companies in India increase their market share. Continuing with its upward sales growth trend, Yamaha Motor India has registered a growth of 24 percent in domestic sales during August 2014 as compared to the corresponding period last year.

The exciting product line-up with the addition of ‘Alpha’ scooter as well as new variants under the FZ series – FZ Version 2.0 and FZ-S Version 2.0 has been instrumental in boosting sales to higher ranks. The company sold 53,242 units in August 2014 as against 42,995 units sold in August last year in the domestic market thereby registering a domestic sales growth of 24 percent.

Speaking about the results, Roy Kurian, Vice President – Sales & Marketing, Yamaha Motor India Sales said, “This month has seen only an extension of our continued success month after month. Our scooter offerings, especially ‘Alpha’, have been a catalyst in giving us good numbers in addition to our popular motorcycle lineup. We have a strong presence in the 150cc deluxe segment and our FZ series is the second largest selling brand in the deluxe segment*. The launches of FZ Version 2.0 and FZ-S Version 2.0 have further spurred our sales. Moreover, ahead of the festive season we are quite confident about continuing our growth story in the coming months as well with our innovative product line up and exciting customer engagement initiatives.”
