About the Helmet Rule as per CMVR 1988

According to Section 129 of the Motor Vehicles Act of 1988, it is a traffic violation and a punishable offence to ride a two-wheeler without wearing a helmet. If caught violating this rule, a person can face a fine of up to Rs 1,000. In more serious cases, the rider may even face temporary suspension or disqualification of their license for three months, or in severe instances, imprisonment. It’s important to remember that wearing a helmet not only avoids legal trouble but also protects our own safety on the road.

Big B caught without a helmet

On Monday, the Big B shared a picture of himself sitting in the backseat of a stranger’s bike. “Thank you for the ride buddy … don’t know you … but you obliged and got me on time to the location of work … faster and in avoidance of the unsolvable traffic jams … thank you capped, shorts and yellowed T-shirt owner,” he wrote.

From the Tumblr BlogSpot

In his Tumblr blog, Bachchan wrote: “Ride on the bike and the driving enthusiasm never does run away … the early years come tumbling by in the thoughts and the mind … those College days and the group picnics and the odd occasion when the family car was allowed to be used … such fun times … carefree and just … but now … caution and care and above all regulatory lives … Part of living … Many a time there is the desire to take over the vehicle and drive it to work … for the way and the method the carrier drives is of concern … is of the breaking of regulations … is the unknown factor of how did they get these driving licences, when their basic skills are challenged … no helmet, no regulation or discipline to adhere and respect traffic signals … blatantly disregarding them and giving a damn to the law or the rules.”
