After the Duster and the EcoSport, it is now Hyundai’s turn to jump into the compact crossover/SUV segment in India.Their weapon of choice, the Ix25 compact SUV has been surfacing up on the web regularly these days, clad in camouflage gear but fully indicating its readiness to go on sale anytime soon. And these two are the latest batch, sent to us by a Motoroids reader.
Powering the Ix25 could be the 1.6-litre VTVT 4-cylinder GAMMA petrol engine and the 1.6-litre 4-cylinder diesel that we have seen in the new Verna 4S. The former makes 123 PS of max power. The CRDi motor makes a healthy 128 PS of power at 4000 rpm and 260 Nm of twist between 1900 – 2750 rpm. The petrol engine is likely to come mated to a slick 5-speed manual gearbox, while the diesel could use a 6-speed manual affair.
Prices for the Hyundai ix25 are expected to be between INR 8-12 lakh, thanks to extensive localization keeping costs down. The ix25 is expected to be launched sometime around August this year. For more on this compact SUV, head over here and here.
