Toyota Fortuner BWSL mishap

In a recent case of rash driving, a teenager reportedly rammed his Toyota Fortuner into a few vehicles and crashed into a toll booth. Four persons are reported to have been injured in the incident. Reports suggest that the teenager, identified as Anmol Gupta, rammed his SUV into the Bandra end toll booth of the Bandra – Worli Sea Link (BWSL) after the brakes of the vehicle allegedly failed to work. The incident occurred at 12:45 A.M. when Anmol, who holds a learner’s license was out for a leisure drive with his friends. After the joy ride in South Bombay, Gupta and his seven friends were returning home when the incident occurred.

According to Gupta the brakes of his SUV malfunctioned due to which the vehicle ended up ramming a few vehicles before crashing into the toll booth. The mishap ended up injuring three employees of the firm handling the toll booth who were admitted to Bhabha Hospital located in Bandra. The occupants of the car, unlike many accident cases, did not flee the spot but were said to have helped the injured.

Gupta, who also suffered minor injuries, was taken to the Bandra police station where a case of rash driving was registered on him. Police officials believe that the accused was speeding. Preliminary investigations suggest that Gupta was not under the influence of alcohol. The Fortuner will be sent to the RTO for inspection. The mishap caused inconvenience for regular commuters who faced long queues due to the closure of a few toll booths.
