Skoda Achieves 225 Customer Touchpoints Target

Skoda Auto India had set itself a target of achieving 225 customer touchpoints across India. They announced today that they have achieved this target well before the year ends.

Skoda’s Growth

To put things in perspective, the year 2020 had only 120 touchpoints in India. Skoda has steadily seen growth since and after the launch of the India 2.0 initiative. In the year 2021, the number of touchpoints grew to 175. Skoda added 50 more touchpoints this year. These customer touchpoints include fully digitalized showrooms, dealerships, sales branches, service centers, and compact workshops among others.

Now, the growth is not only limited to the touchpoints but also the sales. The year 2022 saw Skoda Auto India achieve their highest sales figures which are well over 50,000 units and still counting. The sales numbers have doubled over the previous year. Also, for Skoda, India is now the third largest market in terms of customer base.

Skoda’s Success

A huge chunk of the credit for Skoda’s success goes to the India 2.0 initiative. As per the initiative, Skoda developed a special platform for cars to be produced in India. The MQB-A0-IN platform was developed to cater to Indian customers. This platform is heavily localized thus reducing the overall production cost. The success of the Kushaq and the Slavia proved that this platform was working in favor of the Indian consumers and their needs. Skoda also has focussed on increasing its physical presence across the country in the form of new dealerships, workshops, etc. In a time when big foreign brands were shutting shop, Skoda continued to build trust by setting up additional touchpoints.

Another big win for Skoda was the 5-star safety rating it scored with the Skoda Kushaq. Now, the 5 stars were awarded not only for adult passengers but also for child passengers. This was a first in India making the Skoda Kushaq one of the safest cars in the country. The other one of course is its cousin the Volkwagen Taigun which is based on the same platform. The safety ratings only added to the trust of Indian consumers.
