Mahendra Singh Dhoni Launches His Bike Racing Team in FIM Supersport World Championship

Popular Indian cricketer and biking aficionado Mahendra Singh Dhoni has now become the owner of a racing team in FIM Supersport World Championship. This championship is a support race series for World Superbike Championship that forays into India next year.  Named as Kawasaki MSD R-N Team India, the new race team was unveiled in Czech Republic last month by team principal Amit Sandill.

“Trying to grow the sport in Asia, the sport itself is in a pretty nascent stage in Asia so this is a first step. Trying to get to the championship and making a kind of mark in the championship and then take the sport to India and then other countries in Asia. We would also like to start a Racing Academy. Behind all this is the passion, which comes as a bonus,” Sandill said.

Telugu actor Nagarjuna has been named as one of the directors of the new team. Riders for Dhoni’s team are Dan Linfoot (Great Britain) and Florian Marino (France).
