Images and Design Review: New 2013 Skoda Octavia

We reported in great detail when Skoda India unveiled the new 2013 Skoda Ocatvia in India last evening. The 2013 Skoda Octavia has been a regular on the news sections of Motoroids ever since the car was unveiled some time last year. While we have talked enough about how the car is larger than the Laura and how it looks poised to become one of the most successful products from Skoda, we now plan to have a good look at the way the new Octy looks.

Starting with the front end, the car looks distinctively European and very suave when viewed head on. The headlamps look pretty slim and very urbane. Also, the headlights are angled slightly upwards at their terminal ends. There is a well defined crease flanking the headlights and running right into the front bumper. The deliberately left gap between the hood and the headlight comes across as an interesting design detail. The panel gap acts like a pair of lashes over the new Octavia’s pretty new eyes. The design cues from Vision-D concept can be found in abundance at the front end of the new car. The slim central air-dam and the angular fog lamp housings have been directly lifted from the much publicized concept.

Talking about the side, the car seems to be pretty Loooooo……ong. The greenhouse has certainly grown in surface area and breaking a slight monotony here is the well pronounced black cladding around the aft portion. The India spec car was seen shod with very classy ten spoke alloy wheels.

The car has a notchback body layout and is wider and lengthier than the outgoing model.

Rear is where the car looks much like the International spec Rapid and the Vision-D concept can be put to blame here. Compared to the elements on the outgoing model (Laura), the new Octy has a more angularly cut out bumper and the boot seems to be taller than before.

The C-Motif in the tail-lamps shout Skoda and further give the car a familiar look.

The new Octavia looks sexy and very sophisticated. On the same time, it has this understated sense of purpose that the Octy has always been famous for. We love it! What about you?
