Vespa LX125 launched @ INR 66661. I so want to take the cool scoot to college

We reported about Piaggio’s plans for India from the Auto Expo held in January this year. We also reported in detail about the manufacturer’s plans to introduce the LX125 scoot in the Indian market. Now, we are the first to bring to you the news that the Italian two wheeler manufacturer has launched the Vespa LX 125 scooter in country. This launch event took place in Mumbai today and following the event will be the inauguration of the Vespa plant in Baramati on 28th. The inauguration will take place in presence of Mr. Matteo Colaninno, Group President, Piaggio.  
Piaggio’s Indian operations will commence with a dealer network of 50 dealers across 35 cities and the manufactuer will also start Vespa clubs.The Vespa is the only scooter to use the single piece monocoque construction and the motor in LX125 has been especially tuned for Indian riding conditions.

  • Engine capacity- 124 cc 
  • Max Power-10.06 BHP @7500 RPM 
  • Max. Torque- 1.08 kgm@6000 RPM
  • Transmission- CVT
  • Expected fuel efficiency- 50 km/l
  • Weight- 114 kgs. 

The Vespa LX125 will be made available in 7 colours- red, silver, yellow, orange, blue, black and white and the new scooter has been positioned as a lifestyle vehicle. The sexy two wheeler is priced at INR 66,661/- in Maharashtra.

The only complaint we have is no option of a disc brake.

  1. The very reason it will sell is because it looks like it was made half a century ago. The vespa is like the Titanic. People will be ready to travel it anytime!

  3. 70K on road for a gearless scoot. That too, with the looks of something made half a century ago. Somehow, I don't think this one will be giving Honda and TVS sleepless nights.
