Yamaha launches upgraded SZ-R and SZ-X

Yamaha SZ-X and SZ-R are the easiest ways to own a 150cc Yamaha. These are essentially same as the FZ-16, albeit, in a different set of clothes and ride & handling package. The SZ series of bikes borrow the 153cc motor from FZ-16 and employ it in a slightly detuned version to extract more fuel economy. We have always liked the fact that the bikes deliver a good package for their asking prices. Recently, Yamaha India introduced new color options for SZ-R and SZ-X. Very similar to the erstwhile Hero Honda, Yamaha decided to limit the upgrade to merely the cosmetics. The SZ-R gets three sporty dual tone paint jobs: Quality Red, Quality Black and Quality White while the SZ-X now comes with three colour options: Red, Black and Silver.

The direct rivals of the SZ siblings are Bajaj Discover 150 and Honda Unicorn and Suzuki GS-150R. The SZ-R is comes equipped with a disc brake up front. The 153 cc SOHC engine generates a maximum power of 12.1 PS@7100 RPM and churns out a torque of 12.8 Nm@4500 RPM. The prices remain unchanged at Rs.56,500 (SZ-X) and Rs.63,000 [on road price, Mumbai].
