Mercedes recently revived its luxury brand, Maybach, with the introduction of Mercedes-Maybach S-Class models, the S500 and the S600 at the Los Angeles Motor Show. The German car maker also said that the Mercedes-Maybach brand will sit alongside the performance oriented Mercedes-AMG brand. So does this mean that Mercedes will expand its Maybach brand through other models as well?

Speaking at the Los Angeles motor show, Dr Hermann-Joseph Storp, the development director for the S-class, hinted the expansion of the Maybach range by saying, “I would not call it an active plan yet because we have to first wait to see how successful the new saloon will be. But if the brand is popular, we could of course make a Maybach version of many different cars.”

Storp also added that Mercedes may also introduce the Maybach versions of the E-class, GLS-class and the existing S-class coupé.

The recently revealed Mercedes-Maybach S600 is scheduled for an early 2015 launch while the relatively affordable S500 will follow soon. The top-of-the-range model is the Mercedes-Maybach S 600 will be powered by a 5980cc V12 biturbo engine that would generate an output of 530 hp and maximum torque of 830 Nm. The Mercedes-Maybach S 600 completes the sprint from 0 to 62 mph in 5.0 seconds, while the top speed is 155 mph (electronically limited). The Mercedes-Maybach S 600 comes with the latest evolution of the 7G-TRONIC PLUS automatic transmission.
