Ward’s Automotive lists its 10 Best Interiors for 2015; India bound Honda Jazz makes it

2015 Honda Jazz Europe (2)

Ward’s Automotive, an US based publication, has listed its pick of the top 10 interiors for 2015. And no, it doesn’t comprise purely of leather and wood heaped Rolls-Royce and Bentley insides, but is mostly populated with mass market cars. All but one in the list is immediately relevant to the Indian market, and its the cheapest one at that – it is the 2015 Honda Fit/Jazz, headed to India this year. Here’s what they had to say about the funky Honda’s cabin:

“The third-generation ’15 Fit now available has a more spacious cabin, a new interior configuration and lots more rear legroom, thanks to a longer wheelbase.

And for under $22,000, the Fit can be had in EX-L dress, fully loaded. The Fit retains the second-row “Magic Seats” that fold upright and lock in place for easy storage of bikes and other large objects – a wonderful feature that remains innovative.

Honda expertly realizes entry-level buyers don’t like to settle and instead prefer a unique, upscale alternative to the econobox.”

For the record, here’s the list of the top 10 interiors for 2015 by WardsAuto, along with their respective US price-tags:

  • 2014 BMW i3 ($52,550)
  • 2015 Chrysler 300C Platinum ($51,175)
  • 2015 Ford F-150 King Ranch ($60,675)
  • 2015 GMC Canyon SLT ($40,465)
  • 2015 Honda Fit EX-L ($21,590)
  • 2015 Jeep Renegade Limited ($33,205)
  • 2015 Kia Sedona SXL ($43,295)
  • 2016 Mazda6 Grand Touring ($33,395)
  • 2015 Mercedes C400 ($65,000)
  • 2015 Nissan Murano SL ($41,905

After evaluating 42 interiors that are all-new or significantly redesigned for the U.S. market, the list was watered down to the final 10. Each of the vehicles were awarded scores, based on parameters like quality of materials, ergonomics, safety, comfort, value and fit-and-finish. In the category of driver information, editors tested the user-friendliness of the human-machine interface to see how effectively vehicle information is communicated. The most important category, worth 20 out of 100 points, was aesthetics and design harmony.

Production of the all-new, third generation Honda Jazz has already commenced in India, at the Japanese automaker’s Rajasthan plant, and a launch is expected in July 2015. The same plant also caters to the popular City sedan, and it would seem like a logical move to produce the Jazz there as well, because both cars will be sharing critical components with each other. 1. when it comes to India they’ll strip off some of the cosmetics and screw it up just like how they stripped the sunroof, projector lights, day time running lights of the i20 elite.
