Waiting period for top end variants of Ertiga MPV on an all time high

This had to happen! We had talked about waiting period for the Ertiga to shoot upwards the day we reported about the new MPV getting a phenomenal response days after its launched. Now, the top end variants of any vehicle do not really sell like hot cakes. However, it is not really the same with the Ertiga. Waiting period for the ZXi and ZDi variants of this car has shot up owing to shortage of Alloy Wheels. It may be noted that these wheels are imported from Thailand and the Thai supplier is unable to fulfil the demand.

The not so popular petrol models- LXi and VXi, which come with steel wheels are readily available. The base variant of the diesel model- LDi commands a waiting period of one month and the mid level diesel variant- VDi has a waiting period of four months. Waiting period for top-end petrol variant- ZXi is 10-12 weeks and for top-end diesel variant-ZDi is so much that one has to wait till March, 2013!

The highest selling variant of the Ertiga is the ZDi and this model constitutes for as much as 50 per cent of the total sales. One of the reasons for people to opt the ZDi over the VDi is small price difference between the two.
