The Volkswagen Polo GT 1.2 TSI has been a regular at our daily news section since almost a week now. While it is easy to guess that the Polo 1.2 TSI is close to entering our market, VW India hasn’t yet made any official announcement regarding the launch date of the upcoming variant of its hatchback.
However, AutocarIndia has today reported that VW India might launch the Polo GT in our car market on April 25. The Polo GT is looking all poised to become the first (and the only) B segment hatchback in India to have a turbocharged petrol engine.
Powering the upcoming variant of the Polo will be a 1.2 litres, in line four cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine that has a max. power output of 105bhp and a peak torque figure of 175Nm. The power output is same as that of the 1.6 litres normally aspirated petrol engine that powers the Vento and the Rapid. The Polo 1.2 TSI will be the logical successor of the now defunct Polo 1.6 which too was powered by VW’s 1.6 litre petrol engine. The 1.2 litre motor on the Polo GT will come mated to a 7-Speed DSG box.
Visually, the Polo GT will be similar to the Polo SR edition that was recently launched. This means that the car would have a body kit that includes front, side and rear skirts and rear spoiler. Other bits include smoked head-lamps, chrome exhaust tip, 15-inch alloy wheels and GT badges. On the inside, the car will get an upholstery change and brushed aluminum pedals
