We have been regularly posting about the upcoming budget brand of cars from Auto giant Volkswagen. Volkswagen Low Budget Car brand will be launched sometime in 2016 and go up against Dacia, Lada and upcoming Nissan-Datsun cars.

VW’s budget brand makes a lot of sense for developing markets like that of India. It may be noted that in India, low cost car sales account for about 48 percent of the annual car sales and VW low cost cars will be VW’s shot at grabbing a chunk of the small car business.

UK’s CAR magazine says that the new range of VW low cost cars will consist of INR 465000 entry level sedan, INR 500000 estate and INR 525000 mini MPV.

An A segment hatchback, developed especially for India, might also be in the offing.

It has emerged that these cars will employ engines and components from earlier generation of VW cars and this will help the prices to remain under a check. Underpinning the cars will be the PQ platform and the vehicles will be manufactured at VW’s facilities in low-labor countries.
