Draped in the traditional blue and silver livery, the e-Golf has been equipped with a number of police equipment including emergency lights and communication radios.

Akin to the standard model, the e-Golf police car is powered by a lithium-ion battery which feeds an electric motor that develops 115 PS (85 kW) and 270 Nm (199 lb-ft) of torque. This enables the hatchback to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 10.4 seconds and travel 130-190 km (80-118 miles) on a single charge. Since the travel range is limited, we hope the police use this car only for patrolling and not for hot pursuits.

On one hand, we have the Dubai police adding supercars and hypercars to their fleet and here we have the European police using an electric car. Although the electric cars require electricity which in turn is produced after consumption of natural resources, they have an upper hand on other gasoline powered vehicles.
