Volkswagen Cross UP unveiled at Geneva Motor Show 2013

Volkswagen Cross UP-2

If the Volkswagen UP garnered enough interest and particularly with a prospect of engine swapping with the XL1, here’s more. The Wolfsburg based automobile manufacturer has pulled the silk off a more ‘rugged version’ of the UP at the Geneva Motor Show 2013.

Badged as ‘Cross UP’, the new kid is essentially the UP with added ground clearance- an inch to be precise and is the only tweak if anything on performance has to be spoken of. As for the rest it’s pure cosmetic! The Cross UP gets a new set of 16” wheels with black plastic cladding for the wheel arches and sills. The topside receives a glamour treatment in form of roof rails. Crawl inside and a special trim of red and anthracite grey greets you with added dash of chrome inserts on the tacho and AC vents.

The list does not exactly give any performance points to the Cross UP except the fact that it might swallow an extra inch of undulations. Running the same 3 cylinder 75 bhp motor that powers the UP, the Volkswagen Cross UP aims at buyers who wished for a handsome version of the hatch.
