To start with, the act captured in this video isn’t exactly illegal, as this real world test of the Ferrari 488 GTB in question was conducted on one of the derestricted Autobahns. Having said that, to get even close to the speeds shown on that digital speedo can be suicidal on public roads.
There is, however, no stopping the speed junkies who wouldn’t think twice before risking their lives to find the outer limits of their vehicles. So while the newly introduced replacement of the astonishing 458 GTB, the 488 GTB, featuring a 3.9 liter V8 twin turbo is claimed to be very, very fast, with a theoretical top speed of ‘over’ 330 km/h, we hadn’t come across any footage substantiating the claim until we stumbled upon this footage.
Seems like an auto maniac decided to hoon this 670PS / 750 Nm prancing horse to its absolute limit. The video shows the driver precariously accelerating in the leftmost lane until the speedo reads 341km/h. Take out 10km/h as speedo error, and yet Ferrari’s claim of over 330 km/h sounds true, even in the real world. Check out the video below, and don’t try doing this on public roads – it’s much more dangerous than what it looks like.
The road had relatively light traffic for the location, all drivers were where they should have been and there was not one moment of heavy braking or panic. No need to be negative about it.
