What happens when you plonk some of the world’s best drivers inside a tiffin box on wheels that has a nearly square footprint, We have always wondered. Now, thanks to the creative minds behind the Lotus F1 Team and the oil barons of the Middle East with a penchant for building huge malls and shopping estates, we have the answer too.
As you know, the Lotus F1 cars use Renault engines. And Renault also manufactures the cute albeit tinboxy Twizy electric vehicles, amongst many others. The Twizy isn’t exactly an electric car that you can take out for your weekend drives with a clean conscience but its small dimensions mean that it can be quite a fun in small spaces.
So the Lotus Team did what any sane team would do. They dropped their lead drivers, Romain Grosjean and Pastor Maldonado, into two Twizys and set them loose inside the monolith that’s the Dubai Mall. You might remember that neither Grosjean nor Maldonado had a good season this year, but, going by the look on their faces, it sure looks like they had a lot of fun shooting this.
