As we reported earlier, the Vespa S India launch is just around the corner and soon after showcasing the Vespa S (Sport) at the recently concluded Auto Expo 2014, Piaggio India has dispatched the first back of the upcoming scooter to its dealers. Seen below are some images of the upcoming Piaggio Vespa S, which has been spotted at official dealerships by the folks at IAB. The recent sighting further consolidates our belief that the Vespa S India launch would happen sooner than most of you expected it to.
In Indian market, the Vespa S will be available in four body colors (Orange, Matte Black, White and Red) and as we were all expecting, would be pricier than the Vespa VX 125 scooter, which currently retails for INR 71,380 (ex-Showroom, New Delhi). It is being said that Vespa S price in India would be around INR 4,000 higher than that of the Vespa VX.
Visual differences between the Vespa S and the Vespa VX lie in the headlight shape. While the forner has a squarish unit, the Vespa VX comes with a round headlamp. Other than this, the Vespa S has different shaped mirrors and a slightly different positioning of the tail light. The Vespa S also gets a powder coat of paint for its three spoke alloy wheels. Some other changes include an exposed glovebox and a slightly different instrument console.
Powering the new Piaggio Vespa S is the same single-cylinder, 125 cc, 3v engine that powers the VespaVX. This engine has a max power of 10.06 PS and peak torque of 10.6 Nm.
