Valentino Rossi hopes to finish in top 3 for 2013 MotGP championship

Valentino Rossi, who ruled the racetrack while he was with Honda, and later with Yamaha seems to have lost his Midas touch ever since he went with Ducati. The legendary rider has not been able to win even a single race since the past two years. Back with Yamaha Factory team this year, Rossi wants to finish in top 3 at the end of the 2013 championship. Getting his first MotoGP victory since 2010 would also be on his priority list.

Very modestly, the ace rider admits that it would be extremely difficult for him to match the pace of team mate and reigning champion Jorge Lorenzo and Honda’s Dani Pedrosa. Rossi believes that Lorenzo, who knows the Yamaha M1 better than him at the moment, would be quicker initially, while he will have to settle in bit by bit. However, he still believes that not being able to win even once in 2013 would be a major disappointment. Now those are not the kind of words we’re used to hearing from Rossi, are they?

Apart from a top 3 spot for championship and a win, Rossi also wants to finish at least 10 races on the podium this season. At 33 years of age, Rossi still believes that he will start the 2013 season in the best physical and mental shape for years.

Even with all his recent failings, my devotion for the Doctor remains unaltered. I honestly hope and wish that Rossi not only finishes on the podium this year, but take the title too, recreating the lost magic and bringing to the table some memorable dogfights. All the best, Rossi!
