The folks at MoreBikes have laid their hands on what they claim to be patent images of the upcoming Kawasaki R2 supercharged middleweight motorcycle. The motorcycle has been in news for quite some time now and the occasional renders have kept the flame alive and bright. The patents images have reportedly been leaked from the Japanese manufacturer’s legal department.

As reported earlier, the R2 will be a smaller and relatively affordable supercharged motorcycle. The source also suggests that the upcoming R2 will draw power from a 600cc motor and will reportedly be more rider friendly. Similar to the Ninja H2, the R2, as seen in the leaked patents, will be built around a trellis frame. Surprisingly, contrary to the renders, the patent reveals a underseat exhaust instead of a conventional side mounted unit. The supercharger unit has been designed by Kawasaki and its has been routed under the inner-shape of the petrol tank.

Visually, the patent reveals the R2’s design cues which seem like a mix of H2 and the ZX-6R. That being said, the swingarm is surprisingly slimmer than the H2 or the ZX-6R. Even the fairing is as relatively curvier than the H2 or ZX-6R. We hope to hear some more news about this middleweight supercharged motorcycle in the coming days. Meanwhile, let us know your views about the upcoming Kawasaki R2 through the comments section below.
