And with this, the upcoming 2014 Mahindra Scorpio facelift wins the most spied car of the recent times award!

Jokes apart, the soon-to-be launched Mahindra Scorpio is likely to make its public appearance at the Auto Expo 2014 next month and could go on sale shortly thereafter. The most recent spy pics that you see here were taken in Chennai by an Indian Autos Blog reader, Mr. Reuben Jacob.

The prototype seen in the images here sports dummy headlights and turn indicators. Also, while the grille comes from Bolero, the bumper seems to have been borrowed from the Xylo. It may be noted that none of these parts will make it to the production model. As we got to know earlier, the Mahindra Scorpio facelift will get LED fixtures for its headlamps, along with a comprehensively updated front fascia that would consist of a new bumper, grille and fog lamps. Also, there are good chances that the car will also get a highly revised hood and front fenders.

On the inside, the car will get a revised dashboard, new upholstery and a steering wheel that seems to have been taken from the Mahindra XUV500. The car also gets a new infotainment screen.

It is highly unlikely that the upcoming 2014 Mahindra Scorpio facelift would feature some mechanical updates. This means that the car would continue to be powered by the 2.2-liter four-cylinder mHawk turbo diesel engine that has a max power of 120 bhp and peak torque of 290 Nm. The motor comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission as standard. Also available is a choice of 6-speed automatic gearbox.
