Unveiled: Scout Sixty – Indian motorcycle’s new entry level bike

Indian motorcycles has unveiled the all new Scout Sixty at the EICMA show in Milan, Italy. The Scout Sixty is a new addition to the upcoming 2016 line-up from Indian motorcycles. The motorcycle with its new 60 cubic inch engine (999 cc) in the new entry point into the brand, and derives its name from the cubic capacity of the powerplant.

The design of the Scout Sixty remains essentially the same as the current Scout, albeit with a few changes such as lesser detailing, less chrome and a black shade for the seat, frame and alloy wheels. While the engine for the new entry level motorcycle is new, chassis, suspension, and brakes are shared with the Scout. The Scout Sixty will be offered in 3 colours  – white, red and black. An astonishingly wide variety of 200 accessories are available for the Scout and the same will be available for this model as well.

The Scout Sixty’s new 60 cubic inches engine is smaller as compared to the 69 incher on the Scout. The engine continues to be mated to a 5 speed transmission though.  Maximum power output is 78hp at 7300 rpm and maximum torque is 88.8 Nm at 5600 rpm. The corresponding figures for the Scout are 100 bhp and 105Nm respectively. Braking duty is carried out by 298 mm disc brakes up front with 2 piston calipers. The disc size at the rear is the same as the front, although it gets only a single piston caliper. ABS will be a standard feature. The bike stands with a ground clearance of 135 mm and has a dry weight of 246 kg.
