This might just be an answer to the increasingly traffic woes. A Slovakian manufacturer called AeroMobil has just unveiled the world’s first production ready flying car- AeroMobil Flying Roadster 3.0 at the Pioneers festival in Vienna.

Already into the flight-testing program since October 2014, the AeroMobil Flying Roadster can transform from an automobile into an airplane in a matter of seconds with the wings tucking in and folding out depending on its mode of travel. The flying car can fit into standard parking space and with the wings tucked in can be driven like any other car on the road. Aeromobil claims that the Flying Roadster 3.0 needs just a few hundred metres of land- be it a paved surface or a grass strip to take flight at a required speed of 130 kph.

Powered by a Rotax 912 engine, the 2 seater AeroMobil Flying Roadster 3.0 uses regular fuel to power itself to 160 kph on road and 200 kph in the air. The body shell, wings, and wheels of the flying car are constructed out of advanced composite material for weight saving. The final output would also feature avionics equipment such as autopilot and an advanced parachute deployment system.

Fuel consumption for the AeroMobil Flying Roadster 3.0 read 15 litres per hour during flight and 8 litres/ per 100 kms (12.5 kpl) while being driven on road. Travel range while flying is 700 kms and 875 kms while on the ground.

Though it does seem an exciting prospect, but the Flying Roadster 3.0 isn’t really cheap with the price expected to be around £172,000.
