After making an entry in the Indian market at the 2016 Auto Expo, UM Motorcycles, the Indian arm of the American motorcycle maker, UM International, LLC along with Lohia Auto reached the shores of Goa for the India Bike Week (IBW) and displayed the Renegade Commando and the Sport S, along with their merchandise and apparel range.

The Renegade Commando is a low-slung cruiser powered by a 279 cc single-cylinder water-cooled engine developing 25 bhp at 8,500 rpm and 21.8 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm, mated to a six-speed transmission. The motorcycle comes with wide handlebars and hydraulic telescopic front suspension along with a rear Suspension, which, according to the company, is ideal for a cruiser motorcycle. The Renegade Commando is priced at INR 1.59 lakhs (Ex-Showroom, New Delhi).

The Renegade Sport S also shares the same engine as the Renegade Commando. Both the motorcycles come with an electric start, and have an air filter with paper element innovation. They also come with a six-speed synchronized mesh gear box. The front wheel has telescopic suspension, while the rear wheel has dual shock absorbers. The motorcycle has a fuel tank of 18 litres with a curb weight of 172 kg. The Renegade Sport S is priced at INR 1.49 lakhs (Ex-Showroom, New Delhi).

UM Motorcycles bought tattoo artist Vikas Malani, for people wanting to get inked at the event. This pretty much completed the bikes, brew and music philosophy associated with motorcycling events.

Talking about UM Motorcycles’ participation at the India Bike Week, Rajeev Mishra, Director, UML, said, “We were happy to be at the biggest bike festival of India and amongst people for who are extremely passionate about motorcycles and anything even remotely related to it. After the overwhelming response at the Auto Expo, our motorcycles were widely appreciated at India Bike Week. We are now present across 50 dealerships in India.

UM International in alliance with the UP-based Lohia Auto has invested INR 250 crores for business expansion. Manufacturing is already underway at the Lohia Auto’s Kashipur facility in Uttarakhand. Headquartered out of New Delhi in India, the company has started appointing dealers across India. This distribution network will continue to expand taking in tier 2 and tier 3 cities and towns going forward.
