I admit it that I have not really been focussing much on entry level segments of Indian bike market lately. But don’t put the blame on me as the performance bikes segment is really busy getting hotter and I simply can’t get enough of these world class products. Not just me but the entire nation is busy sampling the baby CBRs and KTMs of this world (okay..this country) and the entry level segments are far from limelight. People did not really take notice when Hero MotoCorp Stunner, nay. Ignitor was launched and the Bajaj Discover 125 ST failed to generate as much response as the Pulsar 200 NS did. Anyway, despite the performance segment heating up like its nobody’s business, the 125cc segment too is fast heating up and threatening to eat into the space of 150cc bikes. It may be noted that the reason for existence of this segment is that the 125cc bikes offer almost as much power as their 150cc siblings and have the running costs similar to 100cc bikes. South Indian two wheeler manufacturer; TVS Motors is close to launching a new 125cc bike to grab a bigger chunk of the market. Mr. HS Goindi, president marketing, TVS Motor recently said in an interview with a popular TV news channel that the new bike will be introduced to the market in July-August. A safe guess will be to expect to see TVS launching the Radeon 125 DX bike that we saw at the Delhi Auto Expo in January. It will be interesting to see if the new TVS can take the fight to Bajaj and Hondas in the segment. Stay tuned for more info on this.
