The new Triumph Thruxton R will be launched in India at an event in Mumbai on June 3, 3016. The new Thruxton R, addressed as ‘the ultimate factory cafe racer’ by Triumph is powered by an all new 1200 cc, 8 valve, parallel twin engine that features ride-by-wire fuel-injection, and is fed by twin throttle bodies. While power output is rated at 97 PS at 6,750 rpm, 41% up on the previous model’s engine, maximum torque stands at 112 Nm at 4950 rpm – 62% more than the previous generation. The Thruxton R also gets three selectable Mode options – ‘road, rain and sport’, along with traction control.
Over the standard Thruxton, the R is further equipped with twin floating Brembo disks, Brembo monobloc calipers, Showa Big piston forks, Öhlins rear suspension and Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsa Tyres. Other notable features (some optional) include a LED headlight, ABS, engine immobiliser, an USB charging socket, an unique flip-up ‘Monza’ fuel filler cap, Vance & Hines exhausts, a tinted fly screen, a single painted seat cowl, signature Triumph knee pads, knurled handlebar grips and an authentic leather tank strap. Lightweight aluminum bar end mirrors and wheel rims complement the two Thruxton R colour choices, Diablo Red or Silver Frost.
