Triumph Motorcycles developing new Street Triple roadster range including a semi-faired version

Updated Triumph Motorcycles StreetTriple - 3

Triumph Motorcycles’ recent market research survey, conducted with the existing owners, was leaked online revealing key details about the two-wheeler manufacturer’s future strategy. According to the leaked survey data, Triumph Motorcycles is preparing a new Street Triple range which will mark the entry of as many as four models and a more powerful engine in its lineup.

Reports also suggest that one of the models would be a semi-faired version of the Street Triple which could probably be tagged a sports tourer. Watch out Kawasaki Ninja 650 and Honda CBR650F. New Street Triple, with a much larger displacement, can reportedly deliver as much as 125 bhp of power and will come equipped with multiple rider modes.

According to the survey list, the Triumph Street Triple range would be divided in four parts: Street Triple, Street Triple R, Street Triple RT and Street Triple RS. All the motorcycles, as said in the survey list, would be above 750cc. The models would have varying power output and features depending on the positioning and price.

Here is a variant wise distinction between the models:

Base Street Triple

This base variant will churn out approximately 110 bhp (about 5 bhp more than the international model) from the over 750cc motor and will come equipped with non-adjustable Kayaba suspensions at the front and at the rear. Braking duties would be carried out by Nissin Axial. The base variant, unlike the rest of the options, will receive an LCD instrument screen and LED side lights whereas the R, RT and RS would benefit from high definition TFT Screen, LED DRLs and an onboard computer. This variant will be priced at 7,790 pounds (approximately RS 7.74 lakh).

Street Triple R

The slightly premium member of the upcoming Street Triple family will deliver 115 bhp of power, 5 bhp more than the base variant. Unlike the base model, the Street Triple R will receive adjustable Showa suspensions at the front and at the rear and Nissin Radial Monobloc calliper brakes. The Street Triple R would also receive three riding modes and an onboard computer and will be priced at 8,790 pounds (approximately RS 8.73 lakh).

Street Triple RT

The Street Triple RT will be the semi-faired version of the upcoming Street Triple series. The semi-fairing, as mentioned in the leaked document, will be an optional accessory which indicates that customers would have to pay a premium for the half fairing. Over and above all the features that are seen on the Street Triple R, the RT benefits from quick shifter, slipper clutch, flyscreen to name a few. The motor is tuned to deliver 125 bhp of power and is priced at 9,790 pounds (approximately RS 9.73 lakh).

Street Triple RS

The Street Triple RS is the most premium Street Triple family motorcycle coming out very soon. The motorcycle receives the same power output as the Street Triple RT but is equipped with a more premium set of accessories including Lean Angle Traction Control and Track ABS, Adjustable Ohlins suspensions, Brembo Radial Monobloc Calipers and five riding modes including ‘Track’ mode. This variant also gets a lap timer. With all these additions, the Street Triple RS will cost 10,190 pounds (approximately RS 10.13 lakh), nearly 2,400 pounds over the base model.

Here is the chart that gives away the crucial details:

Updated Triumph Motorcycles StreetTriple - 4

  1. Now the question remains, will Triumph India detune this upcoming version for India as well or we’ll get the full power version now?

  2. Not bad looking. I like the styling on the blue one better. Still prefer the look of the Scrambler.
