The Tata Zest’s claim to fame would be its Automated Manual Transmission for the diesel variant, which would make it the cheapest Diesel AMT model in India. The Tata Zest diesel variant will be powered by the highly successful Fiat 1.3 litre common rail turbocharged diesel engine that has a max power of 90 PS @ 4000 RPM and a peak torque of 200 Nm @ 1750-3000 rpm. The petrol engine variant will get the new four cylinder 1.2 litre turbocharged Revotron petrol engine that has a max power of 85 PS @ 5000 rpm and a peak torque of 140 Nm.
The upcoming Tata Zest is largely based on the Tata Manza C segment sedan and comes with a new, more stylish, front grille, a set of new projector headlamps and a new front bumper. At the back, along with a shorter boot, the car also boasts of a new design wraparound tail lamps. Talking about the interiors, the Zest sports a new dashboard, a new steering wheel and new rugby shoulder seats.
Talking about the upcoming model’s name, Tata Motors has said that the name Zest “signifies enthusiasm for life, for the sense of excitement, anticipation, and energy it brings, approaching life as an adventure. It is all about being vivacious and energetic”.
