Tata Zest and Ultra sweep 2014 CII Design Excellence awards

Tata Motors has won the 2014 CII Design Excellence Awards for its passenger vehicle the Zest and commercial vehicle, the Ultra. The Design Excellence awards were initiated by CII in 2011 to establish Design as a tool for national competitiveness in the country. The Zest won the overall award in the ‘Mobility’ category – from among a field of more than 10 vehicles, including Commercial Vehicles, Special Purpose Vehicles and two wheelers, prevailing over competition from five different categories. Furthermore, Zest also achieved the first rank in the PV category to be crowned the best designed car.On the other hand, Ultra won the best designed truck award in the four-wheeled CV category.

Commenting on the occasion of Pratap Bose, Head of Design, Tata Motors,said, “We at Tata Motors are thrilled to have received this award for the Zest and the Ultra. It is a recognition of the creative talent of our 200 design staff from 9 nationalities in our 3 Global Design studios in Pune, Coventry and Turin. Zest is the first car conceived under the HorizoNext strategy and it clearly exhibits the new Tata Motors design language, characterized by three key elements – Humanity Line, Diamond DLO, and Slingshot Line. On the other hand, the all-new range of Tata ULTRA trucks bring in global design that matches aesthetics with enhanced comfort, fuel-efficiency and low cost of ownership to offer the best business proposition to operators.
