Update 1: The new Tata Tiago will be available in five variants namely XB, XE, XM, XT and XZ. The newest hatchback from Tata Motors will compete with the Suzuki WagonR, Honda Brio, Chevrolet Beat and Suzuki Celerio.
As announced earlier, Tata Motors will launch its new hatchback, the Tiago, in India today. We already got to drive this new hatchback from Tata Motors and you can read the detailed review of the Tiago Revotorq 1.05L and Revotron 1.2L by clicking here.
So all that’s remaining to see is how aggressively does Tata price the Tiago and it’s a matter of minutes before the car maker announces the state-wise prices. While we wait for the official announcement, let us give you a brief recap of the Tata Tiago. An unfortunate coincidence made Tata Motors change the name of their ZIppy CAr (ZICA). So after a name hunt contest the Zica became the Tata Tiago. Coincidentally, the new name of the hatchback resembles with the name of Lionel Messi’s (Tata Motors’ brand ambassador) son.
The Tata Tiago will be available with two engine options – 1.2 litre Revotron petrol engine and an all new 1.0 litre Revotorq diesel engine. The former produces 83 Bhp of peak power and a max torque of 114 Nm while the latter delivers a max power of 69 Bhp and 120 Nm of torque. Both these power-plants will come mated to a 5-speed manual transmission for now while an AMT kit will reportedly arrive later during its life-cycle. The Tiago has been up for bookings already.
