Remember the Tiago Aktiv? Well, it seems like the Tiago (erstwhile Zica) with outdoorsy embellishments like roof rails and skid plates could soon go into series production. A new report suggests that Tata Motors is contemplating producing the Tiago Aktiv in small numbers initially. If demand rises for the baby crossover, the manufacturer would look into a full-fledged production for the Tiago Aktiv. This news comes following the Tiago’s sales success, as the hatchback managed to bag 20,000 bookings since launch.
The Tiago Aktiv comes with plastic add-ons for the front bumper which are finished in matte black and complimented by a metallic strip in a brushed finish. Apart from that, there are more plastic add-ons for the side sills and rear bumper with metallic touches, along with roof rails, body graphics and snazzier alloy wheels. The roof section, front grille and ORVM caps have all been blacked out in high gloss.
While the Tiago Aktiv is currently available at the dealer level from Tata’s personalisation studio for around INR 30,000, the factory-made version could be a bit pricier. Still, when it goes on sale, the Tiago Aktiv will become the most affordable crossover in India. The Aktiv will be powered by the same 1.2 litre Revotron petrol engine and the 1.0 litre Revotorq diesel engine from the Tiago, with both being strapped to a 5-speed manual transmission.
