Tata Nano fire

Tata Nano Twist XE coming soon, to be the cheapest Nano

Tata Nano to get an additional variant (XE).

The most affordable car in the world will make even more sense to someone looking to buy one, as Tata Motors will be launching an even less “expensive” variant of the Nano. This base model will be called an XE trim and will replace the current LX and CX trims. The city-runabout is to be launched in December and will be slotted below the top-end XT trim. This means there will only be two trim levels to choose from, making the purchase decision even easier.

Still looks quirky, like a Pokemon.

Another good news is that Tata Motors will retain the power-steering option even on this base model, so no more wrestling with the wheel. Talking of which, the steering wheel will be bigger in size. New additions for the Tata Nano Twist XE include a more detailed instrument cluster with a trip meter which will now display the fuel economy, distance to empty and a digital clock (for those who forgot their wristwatch at home). On the cosmetics front, this Nano will feature simple black plastic bumpers and will have wheels with no wheel-caps. The other available niceties are similar to what the current CX variant offers.

The better instrument cluster on the new Nano.

We don’t expect any significant changes to be made on the mechanical front by Tata Motors. But, you can have your Nano Twist XE in three different colours such as white, gold or silver. This means that the most affordable car in the country will now be even more affordable and better equipped than before.
