Tata Motors confirm three new Jaguars by 2014

Tata Motors has confirmed that between now and 2014, they launch three new models as well as facelift version of some of their current models. The first vehicle in the line up will be an executive sedan built on the next generation XK platform and will be launched as the new X-type. The car will take on the BMW 3-series, Audi A4 and the Mercedes Benz C-class. Tata will focus its efforts on making sure that the car will cost competitively lower than the German sedans that it is targeting.

The new XK which would share the platform with the X-type will be launched by 2013. This platform will spawn a new small 2+2 sports car too which is expected to become a hot seller for Jaguar. While the coupe and convertible version of the XK will go on sale in 2013, the smaller XK is expected to make its debut in 2014.

Tata has confirmed the development of three new Jaguar models - the XE, X-type and next generation XK by 2014. More details on Motoroids.com

After the introduction of these vehicles, we’ll see the much awaited successor to the E-type (and the production version of the F-type Concept), in the form of the XE sports car. The XE will take on the likes of the Porsche Boxster. Also following up in 2014 will be a redesigned XF. The new look will lend its facia to a stationwagon model and a long-wheelbase version as well. The LWB will be designed for the Chinese market while the wagon will be sold in Europe. While these vehicles are being developed, Tata will focus its attention on boosting sales of its flagship XJ line-up by entering new markets, launching new variants and coming up with a facelift model in 2013. Looking at Tata’s current strategy, we are sure that all these models will come to India for sure. Stay tuned to Motoroids as we bring you more info on these models…
