Suzuki’s much awaited quarter-litre motorcycle, the Gixxer 250 or the GSX-R250, was expected to hit the two-wheeler maker’s stand at the recently concluded 2015 EICMA Motorcycle Show in Milan. While that did not happen, a report from Indian motoring portal Bikewale suggests that this upcoming motorcycle will be launched in India in March 2016.

A report from early this year suggested that this new 250cc motorcycle from Suzuki will be showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo in Delhi. But with the motorcycle remaining absent at the 2015 EICMA show, the possibility of the new GSX-R250 reaching the Indian motoring event looks bleak.

The Suzuki Gixxer 155 and the Gixxer SF were received positively by the Indian audience and we are really looking forward to their respective quarter-litre iterations. Render of the Gixxer 250 suggested that this upcoming quarter-litre motorcycle will come in the supersport form but a roadster version is also likely to make its way to the showrooms along with the faired model.

Details about the technical specifications are scarce but it’s rather safe to assume that Suzuki will make use of the unit that did duty on the Inzuma to power this one, too. The Gixxer 250/GSX-250R, however, should see some major changes made to the engine to lend itself ably to the segment. Power output should be at par with the 250cc competitors and we expect to see about 27-30 PS of output from the bike.

There is still no official statement from the two-wheeler maker. However, with the other Japanese manufacturers already grabbing a chunk of the quarter-litre motorcycle market, we believe it is high time for Suzuki to reveal the its quarter-litre offering soon.
